Legacy Shepherding Ministries, Inc. – Randy’s December 2025 Update
16 Leaders Went Through Legacy Shepherding’s Mentor Training!
This year, I hosted two Mentor Trainings – one in person and one on-line for the people I meet with out of state (and one out of country)! It’s an 8-hour day together that’s both fun and equipping!
Influential Leaders at the In-Person Training!
My hope in doing the trainings is to pass on some of the things I’ve learned that seem to help speed up people’s growth and also to allow participants to realize they are able do this spiritual mentoring work themselves.
There was even a physical healing at the in-person session! Kylie was struggling with painful knots in her shoulders that wouldn’t go away for weeks. During one of our practice exercises, Nicole led her through a process of describing and releasing to Jesus something that was bothering Kylie, and then receiving something from Jesus to replace the thing Kylie wanted to let go of. As Kylie released the object (the thing that was bothering her) and handed it to Jesus in her imagination, the knots in her shoulders released immediately and the knots haven’t come back!
Nicole afterward said, “That had nothing to with me. I didn’t know what I was doing.” And that is exactly the point! We don’t have to totally know what we are doing. We just have to follow Jesus. We can’t change anyone or heal anyone on our own anyway. But if we allow some space for God to work and we’re receptive to following what He might want to do in the moment, amazing things may happen.
The First Ever Full Day On-Line Mentor Training Group!

In the past, I’ve done portions of this mentor training on-line, but this was the first time I led the whole one-day training on-line on Zoom. Thankfully, I had the help of David, a Legacy Shepherding Ministries Board Member, who helped operate Zoom and pair people into chat rooms during the practical exercises.
Many of the people who went through the training began mentoring people after the training using some of the tools they learned!
Brit’s Still Passing the Baton:
Years ago, at a church small group leaders retreat, our leaders handed each small group leader a baton. They encouraged us in the work we were doing and the impact we were having in people’s lives. They challenged us to equip people and to pass the baton on to others who could do the same.
For a number of years after that, when I felt like a person I mentored was ready, I would pass them a baton. It was a symbolic gesture letting them know I believed in them and that I knew they were equipped to invest in someone else, to pass a baton on to another.
Recently, I received a text and picture (left) from Brit, the very first man I passed a baton to almost 30 years ago. Brit’s message said, “A long time ago you passed the baton to me. Be encouraged brother. Your legacy lives on!!!”
I like to think of it as Jesus’ legacy that’s being passed on, not mine. But I love the sentiment. And I love that Brit is still passing it on! I can only imagine how many batons Brit has passed to the people he has invested in over the years, especially in his increasingly influential roles at Harvest Bible Chapel where he is currently the Pastor of Care and an Elder. Amazing! Way to go, Brit! Keep passing it on!
Let’s Pass It On!
It’s not too late to join my support team and help pass this ministry on to others who will hopefully do the same.
This year we’ve invested in 31 influential leaders who desire to invest in others.
If you haven’t already…
Would you be willing to partner with me by making a contribution for this year or by making an on-going commitment to support the impactful work of this ministry?
Contributions are tax deductible and life changing.
Every penny will help!
Merry Christmas!
Randy
