Happy 20th Anniversary to Legacy Shepherding Ministries!
On June 1st, Legacy Shepherding Ministries celebrated its 20th Anniversary of full-time ministry!!! Can you believe it? Thank you so much to all of you whose prayers and financial support made the impact of this ministry possible over the past 20 years. We did it! I think we accomplished what God wanted to accomplish through us over these past 20 years. There’s a lot to celebrate!
2026 is the Final Year of Support Raising for Legacy Shepherding Ministries!
Yes, you read that correctly. This is it! 2026 is the last year of support raising!
Am I retiring? It depends how you look at it.
I don’t think we ever retire from doing the Lord’s work. We do it until the day we die, or for as long as we are able. I plan to continue to spiritually mentor people for as long as I am able or for as long as people find value in meeting with me. I can’t imagine not doing it. It’s the most impactful thing I do, it’s desperately needed, and it’s what God has equipped me and given me a passion to do. I just won’t be doing it on a full-time paid basis, as my full-time job. I’ll do it as a part-time employee in 2027, with money previous set aside for that purpose, and on a volunteer basis after that, as the Lord leads.
My current plan is that I will continue to meet with anyone I’ve started mentoring until we come to a good, Spirit-led ending over however many years that takes. I will probably even add some new people along the way, because the need is great and people keep coming. I just won’t meet with the number of people I’ve been meeting with and perhaps I won’t meet with some people as frequently (maybe monthly instead of every other week, for example).
That said, if you haven’t been part of my financial support team in the past, this year-end is your last chance to join us to make this a Grand Finale. For those of you who are already part of my financial support team, it would be helpful for everyone to complete their commitments through the end of the year and do their regular year-end giving in 2026 to finish the year well. After that, please end your monthly direct deposits and regular checks permanently.
I hope through giving to Legacy Shepherding Ministries, Inc., your hearts have grown for this type of ministry and that you’ll want to continue to support ministries like this one. In my subsequent final updates, I’ll give you some possible options of organizations and Legacy Shepherding alums you may want to financially support in the future in place of Legacy Shepherding Ministries, Inc.
Two Major Things We Can Celebrate from the Past 20 Years!
- 200+ People Who We Invested In Are Passing It On
One thing I tell people right from the beginning is that there is an expectation that they will pass on to others anything the Lord gives them through this experience. It doesn’t have to look like how I pass it on. It needs to look like how God designed them to pass it on. It’s been inspiring to see how people pass it on in their own uniquely redemptive ways.
Because of what God did, at least in part, through Legacy Shepherding Ministries…
1 person became a principal of a Christian high-school with over 650 students in attendance.
2 people became missionaries.
3 churches were planted. One church (Mission Church) has baptized 1,590 people since it started!
7 people became counselors, bringing redemptive healing and wholeness 1 person at a time.
7 people started non-profit organizations that are doing incredibly helpful work in the world, such as educating, housing and feeding impoverished orphans in the Dominican Republic; discipling and mentoring young black men in Philadelphia; meeting the practical needs of under-resourced local communities around the country; and discipling adult men so they may become better men, husbands, fathers, and ambassadors of God’s love in the world.
21 people in full-time ministry transitioned into better fitting roles that allow them to be more impactful.
33 people went into full-time ministry. A huge step!
100+ people regularly mentor others with increased intentionality and effectiveness.
120+ people regularly lead small groups or missional communities, with life-changing impact.
Tens of Thousands+ people have been impacted by and ministered to by Legacy Shepherding mentees.
People are passing it on! Intentionally investing in the few multiplies your impact! Just like Jesus modeled.
Paul said to Timothy, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable men [and women] who will also be qualified to teach others.” Invest in people who will pass it on, and teach them how to invest in others who will pass it on, and so forth.
Imagine the impact if every person reading this update invested in just one person who would do the same.
2. The 3 Goals Of This Ministry Have Been Met (as well as they could be)!
The three biggest goals I have for each person I meet with is that they: 1) Grow in deeper Intimacy with God; 2) Understand and embrace their Identity as an extravagantly loved child of God; and 3) Discover and live out their Unique Redemptive Purpose in this world (give it away, pass it on).
I think everyone has grown in these areas in some way, with the majority experiencing life-altering impact.
